ErgBridge — Privacy Policy

Last updated: 22 May 2026

ErgBridge ("the app", "we") is published by Martin Ahlberger. This Privacy Policy explains what data the app processes and how. We have designed ErgBridge so it does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data — but we provide this policy so you can verify that for yourself.

Summary: ErgBridge does not collect any data from you. It runs entirely on your device. It does not communicate with any of our servers because we do not operate any.

1. What data we collect

None. We do not collect any personal data, device identifiers, behavioural data, analytics, crash reports, advertising IDs, or any other information from users of ErgBridge.

2. What data is processed locally on your device

To function, the app reads and uses the following, entirely on your device:

  • Bluetooth power data from a paired ergometer monitor, used to compute the broadcast value sent to a separately paired receiver. This data is processed in memory and is not stored, logged, or sent off-device.
  • Your in-app settings — your functional threshold power (FTP), scaling preferences, the identifier of the last ergometer monitor you connected to, and a few other UI-state values. These are stored on your device using iOS's standard preferences storage (UserDefaults). They never leave your device.

You can clear these settings at any time by uninstalling the app or by resetting them inside the app.

3. What we do not do

  • We do not operate any backend, server, or cloud service in connection with the app.
  • We do not embed analytics SDKs (no Firebase, Mixpanel, Amplitude, Segment, AppsFlyer, etc.).
  • We do not embed advertising SDKs.
  • We do not use Apple's Advertising Identifier (IDFA).
  • We do not embed crash-reporting SDKs.
  • We do not require or support an account or sign-in.
  • We do not share any information with third parties, because we have none to share.

4. Permissions we request

The app requests Bluetooth access (NSBluetoothAlwaysUsageDescription andNSBluetoothPeripheralUsageDescription) to read data from your ergometer monitor and to advertise as a Bluetooth power meter. Bluetooth is used exclusively for this peer-to-peer purpose. We do not use Bluetooth for any form of beaconing, proximity tracking, or analytics.

5. Children's privacy

ErgBridge is rated 4+ and is suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect any data from any user, regardless of age.

6. International data transfers

Because we do not collect any data, no data is transferred internationally by the app.

7. Your rights (GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA, and similar laws)

Under the EU/UK GDPR and similar privacy laws around the world (including the California Consumer Privacy Act), you have rights with respect to your personal data, including:

  • The right to be informed about what data is processed;
  • The right of access to your personal data;
  • The right to rectification of inaccurate data;
  • The right to erasure ("the right to be forgotten");
  • The right to restrict or object to processing;
  • The right to data portability;
  • The right not to be subject to automated decision-making;
  • The right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

Because ErgBridge does not collect, store, or process any personal data outside your own device, there is no data for us to access, correct, transfer, or erase on your behalf. To delete the data the app stores locally on your device, simply uninstall the app.

8. CCPA — California residents

For the avoidance of doubt: we do not "sell" or "share" personal information as those terms are defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA / CPRA). We have no personal information about California residents because we do not collect any.

9. Security

Because the app does not transmit your data to any server, the standard threat surface for cloud-based apps does not apply. Data on your device is protected by iOS's built-in security model (sandboxing, file-system encryption when your device is locked, etc.).

10. Changes to this policy

If we ever change the app in a way that affects this policy — for example, by adding optional analytics — we will update this page, change the "Last updated" date at the top, and disclose the change clearly in the app's release notes. Material changes will be highlighted before they take effect.
